Emilia waxed my bedroom floor a couple of weeks ago. This, when she mentioned it at dinner the next day, explained why my floor had suddenly become an ice rink. Not in temperature--that's normal, although improving this time of year--but in level of traction (ie, none). It was disconcerting for the first day or so, but after a while, you just get used to the way the carpet relocates by a couple of inches whenever you step on it, and remember not to move too quickly.
This morning, though, I was in a hurry and forgot, and the carpet went flying by a good half a foot. Luckily I did not actually fall over or crash into anything, but it was a close one, and reminded my that I'd forgotten to mention my beautifully waxed floor to all of you...
Camminare means "to walk". This is something I am doing a lot of here in Firenze. In fact, after 'speaking Italian', I think it may be my second most frequent activity.

Oh my, that's some floor wax Emilia is using! Maybe you should take up careful shuffling.
