However.
Yesterday I was walking along a side street heading towards Piazza San Marco to take the bus home, and I passed an advertisement for a course in "Nordic Walking".
So far as I can tell from the picture, it appears to be something like cross-country skiing (which is sometimes called nordic skiing), only without the skiis. Or the snow. Also known as.... hiking? With ski poles? Or maybe the idea is that the terrain is more gradual and gentle than a hiking trail. But then that's what I would call Going for a Nice Walk. And forget the ski poles, they'd just get in the way.
But, should you ever have a burning desire to pay someone to teach you how to Go for a Nice Walk with ski poles, there is a course in Florence. Just so you know.
Camminare means "to walk". This is something I am doing a lot of here in Firenze. In fact, after 'speaking Italian', I think it may be my second most frequent activity.
